The autonomous diver program provides the knowledge and skills for experienced recreational divers to safely dive independently of a dive buddy. At the same time the experience gained in this course could strengthen your buddy team skills. The course includes an emphasis on on proper dive planning, personal limitations, accident prevention as well an understanding of as the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving
solo. You will also learn the additional equipment that is required for self reliant diving including its proper usage and assembly. This is the perfect course for underwater photography, underwater video divers and as a preparation for those preparing to enter into professional or technical level training.

This program meets for two sessions:  Academic Review, Equipment Setup & Configuration, and (optional) Confined Water exercise, followed by two Open Water dives to be scheduled.

Prerequisites for this course is Rescue Diver certification, 100 logged dives, and a successful Dive Skills Assessment. 

Minimum equipment requirements include a redundant breathing gas source with regulator, redundant depth and timing devices, cutting tools, and visual and audible signaling devices.  The complete list for minimum equipment configuration will be provided by the instructor, and reviewed in the classroom session before open water dives are scheduled.  This is not a complete list; your instructor will review options and assist each student to ensure that all requirements for certification are met.
