Ready to protect yourself and assist others in a dive emergency?
Recognition of a potential dive accident is the main focus of this course. This program makes the subject of accident prevention and management interesting, challenging and extremely rewarding. The Rescue Diver course is perfect for any diver who plans to dive with family members or friends or those that want to sharpen their dive skills and help other divers. It will also prepare the diver for accident prevention and the application of rescue techniques and skills in diving.
This course is physically challenging. Candidates must display adequate rescue skill prior to certification. Candidates must have current CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen provider certifications. The PADI Rescue Diver will expand your knowledge and experience beyond purely recreational level because you'll learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.
The Rescue Diver certification is also a prerequisite to achieve the Master Scuba Diver rating, as well as for all leadership and professional level training such as Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Instructor.
Upon completion of the classroom and pool work, we'll schedule the final Open Water training either locally at Dutch Springs, or in conjunction with our trips to Florida, scheduled for September, November and December. Check our trips and travel page for more information on our Florida trips.

The remote nature of dive accidents, whether a few hours from shore or days from civilization, frequently requires more advanced levels of care than are offered by traditional or entry-level CPR programs. DAN Instructors and Instructor Trainers will now be able to offer a healthcare provider-level basic life support program for their student and divers. Called Basic Life Support for Dive Professionals (BLSPRO), this program is ideal for dive professionals and divers interested in understanding professional- level resuscitation techniques. This program is designed to be applicable to the diving market, including scenes and scenarios from dive situations, as well as the non-diving/healthcare market.
Skills learned in this program that set it apart from lay-provider level CPR courses include two-person CPR, ventilation using a bag valve mask, finger sweep, suctioning, cricoid pressure, and the technique for caring for an unconscious choking victim.

Continuing education is an important way for divers to continue to hone their diving skills and improve as divers. Divers Alert Network understands the importance of being an active and involved diver who takes the time to learn about not just new dive techniques, but techniques to care for yourself and others injured in a dive accident.
To recognize this commitment to dive safety, DAN has created a recognition program called Diving Emergency Specialist. The DES designation is a way to commend divers who have sought out the training they need to be prepared buddies and safer divers. To earn this recognition, divers must hold current certifications in: Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries (or equivalent) Plus three of the following: Advanced Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries (or equivalent) First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries (or equivalent) AED's for Scuba Diving (or equivalent) On-Site Neurological Assessment for Divers (or equivalent) Remote Emergency Medical Oxygen (REMO2)
